The folks at DVDFile.com (a branch of Crave Online) just let me know they published an exclusive interview with Splinter star Paulo Costanzo. He talks about shooting the film, working with Jill Wagner, and his love for the horror genre. The writer, Kenneth J. Souza had some nice things to say about the film, calling it ”a raw and unnerving little gem” and ”wholly fresh and original”.
Paulo is a great actor, and has become a good friend since we shot the film in 2007. You can feel his passion for Splinter in every word of this interview, and I really appreciate that he feels so proud of it.
Check it out HERE.
Splinter editor David Michael Maurer, and cinematographer Nelson Cragg joined me for a second audio commentary track to be added to the Splinter DVD and Blu-Ray when it hits stores in the coming months. It was great to hang out with them both, and chat about the film.
So far the special features content on the DVD will include the following commentary tracks:
You can pre-order the Splinter [Blu-ray] or Splinter [DVD]
from Amazon.com.
Today we recorded the first audio commentary track for the Splinter DVD. Shea Whigham, Paulo Costanzo, and Jill Wagner all came out to play, and were great. I’m really thankful that they were able to spare the time and support the film like this. It really means a lot. Especially Jill, who came despite having the flu, and insisted she be put in her own little booth because she didn’t want to get anyone else sick. She’s a sweetheart.
It was a great to see everyone, and get to hear their insights into the film now we’ve all had a chance to absorb it, and have a little distance from it. Everyone had their individual things to add, and it’s always interesting to hear another perspective.
I’m hoping to get a chance to do a second track with Nelson Cragg our DP, and Dave Maurer, editor. This would be more focussed on technical aspects of production, and post, and it’ll give me a chance to cover some of the stuff I didn’t get time to discuss today.
It’s amazing to me that it was almost two years ago that I first read the script that eventually became Splinter, and this certainly felt like the home stretch of what has been an incredibly rewarding journey.
I hope people enjoy listening to these tracks when the DVD gets released. You can pre-order a the DVD and Blu-Ray from Amazon.com HERE. Or the UK edition HERE.
