Sundance 2010

The last time I attended Sundance, in 2006, was my eighth straight year at the festival, and I have very much missed being there each year since then. Now, thanks to the kindness of one very generous friend, I am once again heading to the snowy mountains of Park City, Utah for what is in my mind the most significant film festival in the US.

My history with the festival runs pretty deep, dating back to 1998 when I first learned about it. A client at Disney had asked me to do a freebie and help out with some promotional materials being created for Sundance by the studio. I was happy to do so, and a long and enjoyable relationship was born.

Since then, in addition to having two of my own short films premiere at the festival (Staring at the Sun, and I Lost 20lbs in Two Months, Ask Me How) I have had the honor of directing some of their much talked about pre-screening trailers, including the puppet series sampled below, which I co-directed with my friend John Chuldenko.

I don’t know if I’m going to have time to blog while I’m up there, or really if I’ll have much to say that hasn’t already been said, but if I stumble upon a story worth retelling, I will post it here.
