The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films just announced the nominations for the 35th Saturn Awards. Splinter has been nominated in the Best Horror Film category.
These prestigious awards have been handed out to horror, scifi, action and fantasy genre films since the organization was founded in 1972.
Past winners include Star Wars, Poltergeist, Alien, E.T., Robocop, Back to the Future, The Lost Boys, The Matrix, The Others, The Ring, and Batman Begins, to name just a few films in various genres. Winners in the Best Direction category include a who’s who of A-List directors Spielberg, Cameron, Coppola, Michael Bay, Ridley Scott, Sam Raimi, Bryan Singer… the list goes on.
The nominees for Best Horror Film this year are: The Happening, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Quarantine, Splinter, and The Strangers.
So, even though I know it’s a total cliché to say this, it really is an honor for Splinter to even be nominated amongst such prestigious peers. For more details and a full list of the nominees in all categories, visit SaturnAwards.org.
